15 Family-Friendly Halloween Events in St. Louis

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays! But ever since becoming a mom, it’s even more special. From a young age my kids have been obsessed with Halloween. We start listening to spooky music in August sometimes and the decorations at our house are already up! This year, October has 5 weekends which means there’s even more time for all the Halloween fun. There are a ton of great events and places to visit (check out my full fall fun guide here) all over St. Louis. These are the not-so-spooky events perfect for the whole family! Just a reminder, you don’t need to do EVERYTHING. Pick one or two events and savor the season! Or if you’re like us and you’re ready to cross them all off your fall bucket list, then here you go!

🎃 Not-So-Haunted House at The Magic House

📍 The Magic House | Fridays-Sundays in October, beginning Oct. 9
Trick-or-treat through The Magic House and enjoy Halloween fun without the scares during this daytime event. Each child will get an autograph book and trick-or-treat bag at the entrance. Kids can meet their favorite storybook characters and participate in a scavenger hunt! Costumes are welcome! Included with regular museum admission, free for members! Hours: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday–Saturday and 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.

🦇 Boo at the Zoo
📍 St. Louis Zoo | Select nights Oct. 9–30, 5-8:30 p.m.  
Lights, decorations and seasonal fun! Many kids dress up! Your ticket includes access to Dinoroarus, the carousel, Spookley’s 4D Jamboree, Stingray exhibit, and parking. ✨ Jack’s Lighted Trail
📍 Eckert’s Belleville | Sept. 11–Oct. 31
A half-mile nighttime trail filled with incredible light displays PLUS a corn maze. Halloween fun without the spooky factor. Stroller friendly but you will take a wagon out to the trail so bring a foldable one! Tickets start at $22, children under 2 are free. Purchase tickets here.

🎃 Grant’s Farm Halloween Nights
📍 Grant’s Farm | Thursdays–Sundays starting Oct. 1
Lights, pumpkins, fall activities and a dance party in the courtyard. A little spooky, but still a fun option for families. $15 per person, kids 3 and under are free. Purchase tickets here.

🏴‍☠️ Pirates & Pumpkins
📍 St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station | Sept. 18–Nov. 2
Pirate-themed Halloween fun, pumpkins and all the aquarium favorites. Select Friday & Saturday nights include trick-or-treating. Don’t miss the underwater pumpkin carving every Saturday and Sunday from Oct 3rd to Nov 1st at 1:15pm. Included with regular admission.

🎃 Kirkwood Farmers’ Market Pumpkin Patch
📍 Kirkwood | Opens Sept. 25
Pumpkins, swings, climbing structures and a corn kernel pit make the Kirkwood Fall Fun Zone a favorite for families. Pro tip: It gets crowded, so go during the week or at off hours! Open every day. Mon-Fri: $6, ages 2-10, everyone else is free. Sat + Sun: $6 for everyone over age 2. Purchase tickets at the door.

🚜 Party in the Patch
📍 Shaw Park | Oct. 16 at 6 PM
Hay mazes, tractor rides, trick-or-treating, bounce houses and more Halloween-themed fun. Tickets are $12 in advance or $17 at the door, and include a hot dog dinner with child’s ticket.

🦉 Owl-O-Ween
📍 World Bird Sanctuary | Oct. 31 10am-4pm
Costumes, crafts, games, a costume contest and bird demonstrations, including free-flying bird shows at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM. $5 per person; ages 5 and under are free. Tickets here.

🌼 Día de los Muertos in Clayton
📍 N. Brentwood Blvd. | Oct. 24, 4–8 PM
FREE family-friendly celebration featuring face painting, sugar skull art, live music and dance, a street mural and the Catrina Procession in Clayton. Details here.

👻 Legends & Lanterns
📍 Historic St. Charles | Oct. 10–25
This free walking festival on Main Street in St. Charles features ghost stories, Scarecrow Glen, a Scaredy Cat Scavenger Hunt and Pumpkin Glow making it a fun option for younger kids, while older kids and adults can explore the Haunted History Trail. Details here.

🦋 ‘BOO’terfly House
📍 Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House | Oct. 1–31
A Halloween twist on the Butterfly House featuring tarantulas, scorpions, roaches and carnivorous plants. Free for Garden members, included in regular admission.

🎪 Fright at the Museum
📍 City Museum | Sept. 30–Nov. 1
Halloween decor, not-so-spooky stories from the City Museum Witch, acrobats and fire breathers. I’ve heard this one leans a little spookier, so it may be better for older kids. Included with general admission into the City Museum.

🚂 Trick-or-Track
📍 National Museum of Transportation | Oct. 17
A dream for little train lovers! Kids 10 and under can trick-or-treat in costume during the day, with evening activities including reptiles and miniature train rides in the dark. Daytime event happens from 11am-3pm and nighttime event begins at 5:45pm. Daytime activities included with regular admission, reservations required for evening, cost $10. 🎃 Jack O’Lantern Trail at Faust Park
📍 Faust Park, Chesterfield | Oct. 23 & 24
Let the Jack O’Lanterns guide your way as you trick-or-treat through Faust Historic Village in the dark! Kids can also ride the St. Louis Carousel, explore the Butterfly House, play games and enjoy fall activities. $12 per person ages 2+. Purchase tickets here.

🎃 Great Pumpkin Glow in Downtown Maplewood
📍 Downtown Maplewood | Oct. 22 6-8pm
The whole family can enjoy this FREE Halloween event featuring trick-or-treating, music, a pumpkin-carving contest and more as downtown Maplewood lights up with pumpkins and glowing luminaries.
