THE MONTHLY EDIT / APRIL
I feel like we blinked and April was here and gone. But thankfully I take a LOT of pictures so it’s always fun to go back and review the month. I started this series last year when I brought back my blog but I’ll be honest, I forgot all about it! So, we’re bringing it back! I share the Weekly Edit in your inboxes each week (sign up here!), so this is a monthly round up of some of my favorites: the meals, the places, the purchases and the little things that made the month special.
FAVORITE MEALS:
Hands down the best meal this month was at Scout’s in Midtown. The vibes, the roasted carrots, the cocktails. It was a perfect date night. We sat at the bar because it’s a bit tough to get a reservation and it was a nice little evening!
Fiddlehead Fern opened a second location in the Grove and I’m always going to be obsessed with their croissants. Go check out Fern Grove when you’re in the neighborhood.
Lunch at Union Loafers never disappoints. The Little Gem salad is the best in the city.
FAVORITE PURCHASES:
We just got back from a weekend cabin trip and I used my new Land’s End bag for the first time and it was the PERFECT weekend tote. Large enough for my things plus it has a zipper!
Of my Sephora sale purchase, hands down the best new find was the Tower 28 tinted sunscreen! Love the light coverage.
This dress from Amazon. I’ve officially bought it in 5 colors! Its soft, can be dressed up or down and I love the length.
FAVORITE READS:
I read TWO books this month which is honestly a lot for me these days. I attribute it to actually using my Brick and locking myself out of my phone each night. Better than the Movies was a super cute high school rom com and The Stolen Queen was a little historical fiction novel I picked up from the library that I enjoyed!
FAVORITE SPOTS:
During recent market run on The Hill, Nolan and I stopped into Piazza Imo’s to look at the fountain and discovered they have chess boards! He’s really into chess lately so it was such a special little morning to sip coffee and play some chess.
Urban Fort is now open at the City Foundry and it’s a fantastic option for parents looking for a place for their kids to play indoors.
The new Brickline greenway segment in Downtown is such a peaceful spot to walk! I can’t wait for this project to be completed but for now, these small sections are great!
FAVORITE MOM HACKS:
Editing on the treadmill. It’s not anything new or original but I’ve been forcing myself to go to the gym and at least do my editing on the treadmill. I can walk at an incline for 30 minutes and knock out one to two video edits.
Nightly brain dump. Again. This isn’t an original thought but it does make sleep come SO much easier for me. Before bed and before I Brick my phone for the night, I make a note’s app to-do list for the next day and pile everything on it. Even if I can’t do all of it in one day, taking the tasks from the brain and putting them on “paper” really helps. Then in the morning I can prioritize and focus on the tasks at hand.
