St. Louis Playgrounds Near Coffee Shops for the Perfect Family Outing


If you’re a mom like me, than you probably search “coffee shop nearby” whenever going out with the kids. As the weather warms up and it’s officially playground season in the Midwest, I’m rounding up some of my favorite coffee shop and playground combos. These are the coffee shops within walking distance or a quick drive to some of the best parks in the St. Louis area. Plus for those rainy days I’m including some indoor play cafes on the list.   • DeMun Playground + Kaldi’s Coffee

    • The perfect walkable neighborhood. Plus this playground is fenced!

  • Brentwood Park Playground + Exit 11 Coffee

    • This is one of the coolest parks in the area, plus the water feature is the best during the summer. FYI, this park is best for slightly older kids. Exit 11 is a great local drive-thru option!

  • Ryan Hummert Memorial Park + Kentzo Koffee Cafe

    • This playground is surrounded by wide open space with plenty of room to run.

  • Lafayette Square Park + Park Avenue Coffee

    • The playground + the lake with swans and ducks makes for a full morning adventure with the kids! Don’t miss the huge selection of gooey butter cake at Park Avenue Coffee.

  • Deer Creek Park + Maypop Coffee Shop

    • Known to most people as the rocket ship park, this one is geared towards older kids but it is SO fun. Just up the road is Maypop which is an adorable cafe plus garden shop.

  • Shaw Park + Zensia Coffee

    • Shaw Park is one of our favorite playgrounds because 1) it’s fenced in. 2) it’s huge. 3) there’s a great toddler and big kid area. Plus in the summer there’s a splash pad!

  • Oakland Ave Park + Sweet EM's

    • Right next to the St. Louis Zoo you have Oakland Avenue Park playground and Turtle Park! And Sweet Em’s in Dogtown is just a short walk away.

  • East Playground at Tower Grove Park + MoKaBe's Coffeehouse

    • On the east side of Tower Grove Park is a fenced in playground and MoKaBe’s is the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee.

  • Central Playground at Tower Grove + Hartford Coffee

    • Located in the heart of Tower Grove park are two play grounds (partially fenced) and a large splash pad. Just a short walk from Hartford Coffee in Tower Grove South.

  • Citygarden + Trust

    • Citygarden in Downtown St. Louis is a huge free sculpture park. There’s also a small playground area in Keiner Plaza. Trust is a newer cafe that opened and also a great option if you are visiting the Gateway Arch.

  • Twin Oaks Park + Rosemary Coffee Co

    • This is a great option if you are out in West County and looking for a cup of coffee or tea before a day at the playground.

  • Forest Park Playground + Forest Perk Cafe

    • If you didn’t know, there’s a cafe inside the Visitor’s Center at Forest Park and right next door is the playground.

      • Playground: Dennis & Judith Jones Variety Wonderland Playground

  • Kirkwood Park + Teleo Coffee

    • Before heading to the playground at Kirkwood Park, pop into the adorable Teleo Coffee. They also have a great little kids area for rainy days!

  • Berra Park + Shaw’s Coffee

    • If you are in The Hill neighborhood, you have to pop in to Shaw’s Coffee and then check out Berra Park.

  • Francis Park + Rockwell Beer Garden

    • This place was built for families. Rockwell Beer Garden serves Goshen Coffee and is the perfect place to grab a drink while the kids play. Plus during the spring/summer they’re open every day.

  • Vlasis Park + The Ground Coffeehouse

    • The new Vlasis Park in Ballwin is a must visit, with a big kid and toddler area. You can walk over from The Ground Coffeehouse which also has a cute plant shop inside!

  • Lewis Park + Winslow’s Table

    • Whether you are grabbing a cup of coffee or a full breakfast, Winslow’s Table in University City is a must visit and it’s just down the street from Lewis Park. It has a small playground but adorable duck pound and space to run around. Plus in the winter, it’s a great sledding hill!

  • Chouteau Park + Fern Grove

    • This is a brand new coffee shop from the Fiddlehead Fern folks (another great coffee shop near Tower Grove Park in the Shaw neighborhood). The new shop in the Grove is just down the street from Chouteau Park.

  • Fox Park + Coffeestamp

    • Coffeestamp not only has delicious coffee but incredible empanadas and baked goods. Pick up some and walk over to Fox Park with it’s playground, basketball court and splash pad in the summer!

  • Lindenwood Park + Blueprint Coffee

    • Just a few blocks from Blueprint Coffee on Watson in South City is Lindenwood Park. It has a playground, tennis courts and a big fields to run.
