The last week and a half have essentially been a birthday bonanza. First, it was my birthday and then today is my mom's! So we have done nothing but celebrate the last two weekends and it has been so incredible to cherish this time with the people we love. Flowers, chocolate and good friends are the key to making a girl feel loved.
I don't know about you but I celebrate over several days. To ring in 28, we had drinks at Taste, dinner at Reeds, brunch at Retreat Gastropub (go there, ASAP) and then it all culminated with a party at Urban Chestnut. Drinking beers, eating poutine and ending it all with the most beautiful cake from La Patisserie Chouquette.
But the fun continued into this past weekend as we celebrated my beautiful mother's 60th birthday. Our 60s themed surprise party went perfectly (despite torrential downpours and flipping the breaker when we tried to turn the AC down to fast). Mom was surprised and everyone was well fed. I've personally been eating leftovers for dayyyys. That's so typical right? You feel you won't have enough food for guests and then boom, you have so much left over. But who's going to complain about left over cake! We got ours at Sugarbot Sweet Shop in St. Charles.
To end the birthday bash month with a bang it was none other than Paul McCartney at Busch Stadium. It was such a fantastic show. That man can perform! I saw him three years ago at Bonnaroo and it was one of the most magical concert experiences of my life. This time it was so fun to share the experience with my mom and her best friend (who actually saw the Beatles at Busch Stadium when she was 16!) When Sir Paul came out and sang 'Birthday', well the joy on my mom's face said it all. I think 28 and 60 are off to a pretty epic start.
