Just when you think fall has arrived in St. Louis, those hot temperatures come roaring back. But that means another weekend to squeeze in a little more summer fun!
Paddle boarding is one the most fun ways to get in a little exercise and while I love going out to Creve Coeur Lake, I am so excited they now offer it in my backyard. Aka Forest Park. I can't think of a better way to take in the beauty of this St. Louis gem then on the water. You can take your SUP board through the canals and to the Grand Basin for a picture perfect view of the St. Louis Art Museum.
Now this weekend is the Great Forest Park Balloon Race so it will definitely be crowded, but on any other weekend, it's like a little escape right in the middle of St. Louis.
Never SUP boarded before? This is the perfect place to try. The lake, canals and Grand Basin are all very calm water, so it's easy to paddle without fear of being knocked off your board by a wave (like the ocean!). It's also not deep, so if you do fall (you have a life jacket) you can stand right back up!
The paddle boards are first come first serve and you can't reserve them. So you might have to wait a bit. May I suggest going to grab a bit or a beer over at the Boathouse? You can find the tent on the Lake just west of the Boathouse (you have to walk through the grass to get there). It's $20 per hour (but I believe there was a discount if there were more people in your group!)They're open just Saturdays and Sundays 10:00am-7:00pm.
Get out there and enjoy these last warm days of summer in St. Louis,
