It's crazy to think of how much stuff we accumulate over the years. I am currently in the process of moving apartments (basically one end of the Central West End to the other) and I feel like the process of filling boxes is never ending! Like where did all this junk come from? So I was thrilled to take a much needed break from the packing to chow down on some amazing burgers this weekend.
St. Louis of course has no shortage of food events and what better way to spend a sunny Saturday than with some serious eats? Bolyard's Meat and Provisions in Maplewood hosted a Burger Battle this weekend at their fantastic shop in Maplewood. (I want to buy all my meat from them.)
It was a face off between Jeff Friesen from Sugarfire Smoke House and Alex Cupp of the soon-to-open new BBQ spot in South City, The Stellar Hog. There is so much good BBQ in this city. I feel like anyone from St. Louis knows none of those other so-called "BBQ" towns has anything on us! But these burgers weren't really barbeque per say. Both of the chefs put some epic cheese on those burgers which is naturally my fav part of any burger (hello O'Fallon Weach and Gouda cheese sauce?!?)
!Not only was the food fantastic but it was such a wonderful day to spend with friends. Beers were from O'Fallon Brewery (which is still on my list to check out their actual space!) and the fries....oh the fries... They were everything a french fry should be and I was disappointed with how full I got from the burgers that I couldn't finish them. Our table was split pretty even on the best burger. I loved the peaches on Alex Cupp's burger but in the end it was that bacon and ramp sauce on Jeff Friesen's that won my vote! And it appeared the crowd agreed because Friesen was declared the winner for the battle. But a round of applause from our stomachs was well deserved by both chefs!
Welcome to my blog! Here you'll find a behind the scenes look at the day-to-day life of a TV news reporter. I have a love for food, traveling and all things St. Louis. This is a place for me to write a bit more about my passions.
