What is it about short weeks that always feel longer than usual? I only have a three day week and already I've craving the weekend! You know what helps with that feeling? Breakfast tacos.
For as long as I can remember the corner of Pershing and Jackson has been a cycle of restaurants that have come and gone. In the spring a coffee shop (and bike store!) opened fittingly named Cursed Bikes and Coffee. So when we stopped for a couple of cold brews last weekend I was overly excited to see another spot had opened up next door, a spot for tacos!
But more specifically they had breakfast tacos. Something that I am constantly saying St. Louis doesn't have enough of. (If you know of other breakfast taco spots please share them!). It was grand opening weekend but already they had a good groove going. The owners were there and were happy to explain all about the tacos. They have a list on the wall of the daily offerings. We got one of each of the tacos - potato egg and cheese, chorizo egg and cheese and spinach egg and cheese!
And guys these are some hefty tacos! One was enough for me and Matt was good with two so it worked out perfectly. They have three different salsas that were all really tasty. The jalapeno definitely had a kick! I'm also excited to check out lunch and dinner. They definitely veer from traditional with a chicken tandoori taco and a thai street beef that sounds amazing!
The space is cozy. Just a few wood tables inside but they have large picnic tables outside. Perfect for soaking up the St. Louis sunshine which sipping a cold brew from Cursed Coffee. Or one of the delicious looking cocktails on Taco Buddha's menu. I'm eye-spying that frose...(per usual).
Either way, get on over to this little corner in University City and give these businesses some love because I have a feeling they've stumbled on how to turn the curse of that corner around.
